The Super Congress Debt Killing Super Committee fell flat on its legislative rump this week, to the shock of two people living in Dubai. Absent legislative action, the federal budget is now staring down the barrel of significant automatic cuts in both domestic and military spending. Cue the hand-wringing.

My friend Jason, a Penn State alum and football season-ticket holder, is conflicted. Barely a week after the devastating news broke of the indictments of a former PSU football coach for 40 counts of sexual assault, and of two university officials for perjury before a grand jury investigating the alleged assaults, the Lions are hosting Nebraska in one of Penn State’s most important games of the season.
Triad Strategies was on hand in Washington D.C. last week as consumers, pharmacists and health care professionals joined with Congressman Tom Marino to urge the Federal Trade Commission to reject the proposed mega-merger of Medco and Express Scripts, two of the nation’s largest pharmacy benefit management companies.

Local consumers, pharmacists and healthcare professionals gathered in Washington, D.C. today with the Preserve Community Pharmacy Access NOW! (PCPAN) coalition, where they participated in a press conference outside of the U.S. Capitol to urge Congress and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to support patient care and oppose the planned merger between Express Scripts Inc. and Medco Health Solutions Inc, two of the nation’s largest pharmacy benefits management (PBM) companies.
