Last week, we were recording a testimonial video with one of our clients, and during that process he began to share some valuable insights about not only why he chose to work with our firm, but more importantly, what his company's work means to the people he serves.
After watching the finished video, it dawned on us that many of our clients have national brands and are household names, and therefore are easily recognizable for the products and services they provide. Some, however, quietly go about their work outside of most peoples’ consciousness. The subject of the testimonial vide was one such client; Philadelphia-based Impact Services Corporation. And so, we've decided to start a new series, the Client Spotlight, where we'll share some of our clients' stories in the hopes that you'll get to know them better in the process.
Help for Today, Hope for Tomorrow
Founded in 1974, Impact Services has helped tens of thousands of people in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. From returning veterans to needy families, Impact’s mission is to rekindle the fire of hope in those who have seen factories close, jobs disappear and life’s chances dim.
By offering free GED classes and entry-level computer training, Impact has been able to find gainful employment for thousands of people. Impact has reclaimed three former industrial sites and converted them to new uses including office and classroom space, a childcare center, computer labs, housing, and a range of successful job creation projects. A defunct YWCA has also been reclaimed to become 46 units of veterans' rental housing.
And with a staff of 146, Impact itself is a focal point of local job creation.
Triad recently sat down with Impact Services CEO John McDonald for the video below. Take a few minutes to meet John and learn about what Impact Services is doing to restore hope to people across Philadelphia.
